Algebra 1 review + bonus questions.

To study for this test, please watch the videos below... There are videos on solving word problems, solving equations, turning words into algebra, and more...

Below are pictures of solving equations with different fractions. Make sure you know how to solve these kind of equations. The first pictures is the answer to problem 33 on p152 (about the rectangle).

For this one you should multiply both sides by 5 to get rid of the fraction.

This one multiply both sides by the reciprocal.

This one multiply by a number that will "take care" of both fractions. In this case multiply by 12, which will latter cancel with the 4 and the 3 (which are the denominators).

Bonus question - Turn this in tomorrow before your test to get extra points : )

I went to the store and bought a watermelon and 4 bananas. I spent $20. The water melon cost $5 more than a banana. How much does each fruit cost?

Hint: let X be the price of a banana. You may also watch the video below about Dogs and Cats to help you solve this problem.

Word problems for Algebra 1, chapter 3 test.

Use head phones for better audio...
Enlarge the video to full screen so you can see the numbers.

This first problem talks about the dimensions (sizes) of a rectangle. This is a classic. It will be on your test. The step is always the same way, just the numbers may change...

This second problem talks about the purchase of two different items and their total cost. Find the cost of each item (in this case, Dogs and Cats).  Study this also!
