2- what is the surface area and volume of a cone with radius =5m, height = 8m Remember you will need to find the slant height. Use Pythagorean theorem.

3-  what is the surface area and volume of a square pyramid, with base 6in, height 4in? Remember you will need to find the slant height. Use Pythagorean theorem.

See videos below and previous posts for help... : )

Eagle's soccer in the "Nations Cup"

Today our soccer team played in the "Nations Cup" soccer tournament at the School of the Nations. This was a high level tournament with many schools and soccer clubs. First we played against School of the Nations and second we played against Clube Atlético Paranaense. Both good games, but we lost both and did not qualify for the next round. So BIS will not play any games on Sunday.  The fans will have to wait until our next game (and we will have more games this season).

I would like to thank the parents, teachers and students that came to support and cheer us on. The guys in the team were happy to see all of you and we appreciate you coming to watch us play! Next I want to thank the players for their outstanding effort. Our team played with a lot of heart and great intensity. Our players showed character by playing with passion at all times, regardless of the score or the opponent.  We also improved a great deal from the first game to the second game. I wish we had one more game or at least a few more minutes… every player really stepped up and we were playing some solid soccer towards the end. This team did a great job representing our school and I am very proud of them.

Last I want to thank our God for the safety of our players (we had no major injuries, but our opponents were a LOT bigger than we were, and they played tough). Also thank you God for this opportunity for our team to come together, compete, grow,  and give our best effort in honor of You.

Our goal today was to play for an Audience of One  - to honor God by doing our best with the abilities and talents he has given us. We certainly did so. We've achieved our goal. This is a praise and a win for our soccer program.

Thanks again guys for representing our school and for everything you did today. It was awesome!

Here is the new schedule

Ok, I just got the new schedule. Here is the deal. Now there are six team in our age division. So they split these 6 teams into two groups, A and B. The three teams on group A will play each other. The team that finishes first in group A will go the Finals on Sunday (and play against the team that finished 1st in group B). The teams that finish 2nd in their group will play for third place (overall) on Sunday.
The point system is the following: Win = 3points, Draw = 2 points, Loss = 1 point. The team with the most points finishes first in their group.

So the schedule looks like this.

Saturday...
9:30am - BIS vs School of the Nations
12:30pm - BIS vs Atlético Paranaense.

Sunday... if we make it to one of these two options.
9:30am - game for Third place. (We will play in this game if we finish second in our group).
or
10:00am - Final - We will play in this game if we finish 1st in our group.

If we finish 3rd in our group we will not play on Sunday.

  Hope this helps,
see you tomorrow.

Change in the soccer schedule.

Players and parents, there has been a change in the tournament schedule. I just talked to the tournament director and he informed me that an extra team has entered the tournament and this will change the format of the tournament.
Our first game is still tomorrow at 9:30am, and we should arrive at the School of the Nations at 9am. But after that I think we will play only more game on Saturday, and maybe one more game on Sunday. I am not sure of the exact time of those games yet. As soon as I receive the new schedule I'll share it with all.

Just want to give you a heads up as soon as possible. If not latter tonight, then tomorrow morning we'll know exactly when we'll play.
If possible, try to be flexible. Regardless, our first game is confirmed for Sat. 9:30am. So I'll see you there at 9am. Thanks!

Soccer tournament this weekend.

Thank you for all the parents that came and played soccer with us last Friday. It was a great game and good first test for our team. We will plan on having one more game with the parents at the end of the soccer season (in April). The final score for the game last Friday was 3 x 3 (Hernan, Peter and Huat Thart socred for the Ealges).

This weekend our soccer team will play in the "Copa das Nações" which is a tournament hosted by School of the Nations (located in Lago Sul). The games will be all day Saturday and perhaps one more game on Sunday morning. Please mark this on your calendars. I will be there at the school all day with the kids. Once we know the schedule of the exact times we will play our games I will let you know.

Important: In order to play in this tournament all players must wear shin guards! These are not very expansive. You may buy these at any mall or at the "feira", or you can borrow it from a friend. I would like for all our players to practice with shin guards this Thursday and Friday. So soccer players, bring your shin guards to school on those days.
Also the appropriate shoes to play on this field would be the "society cleats" (chuteira society). These are the cleats with the small spikes. It is very hard to play soccer in the grass with regular shoes, so if at all possible get some cleats.

Should you have any questions please contact me - coachbatista@gmail.com . Check the blog for more updates - www.coachbatista.blogspot.com  .
Once I know the tournament schedule I'll forward it to all.
Thanks for your support and Go Eagles!
